Midori Spring Matcha green tea~ product review

Image
This product was sent to me by the manufacturer for review and my honest opinion. The Midori Spring Matcha green tea powder is certified organic, premium, top grade ceremonial gold class green tea. It is said to have many health benefits, such as: "reducing stress and improving mental alertness, improving metabolism and helping with weight loss, boosting the immune system and helping to reduce inflammation and to cleanse the body of impurities". The tea gets its bright green color from the actual tea leaves that are ground into a fine powder. Instructions for preparation say to use 1/2 teaspoon powder with 2 oz of water at 162-169 degrees F. Then you are to whisk it until it gets a foamy top, and then drink immediately. You can what a video showing preparation and education here . What did I think? It tastes like drinking seaweed. It must be an acquired taste. Don't get me wrong, I like all kinds of teas. I found this green tea to be so strong in taste, I actually...

Drunk Elephant Pekee Bar~ A Follow Up Review

Image
This is a follow up review to the Drunk Elephant "JuJu Bar". That review you can find here . So, to catch you up, the Pekee bar is recommended as a nighttime use bar, used in conjunction with the JuJu bar, which is used in the a.m. I mentioned how much I was enjoying the JuJu bar, so I went ahead and purchased the Pekee bar and gave it a try. The bar is a natural looking bar made with some typical soap-like ingredients like, Sodium Coco-Sulfate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, and paraffin, but also includes these ingredients: Blueberry Extract (an antioxidant), honey (for moisture and helps inflammation), and Virgin Marula Oil (another antioxidant that hydrates, protects, and heals the skin). It claims to be free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. The Pekee bar is fragrance free, like the JuJu bar. I wish it had a bit of aroma. The bar gives a light lather and feels mildly creamy on the skin. Overall, though I did not find anything that special about it. It did ...

Shea Moisture Superfruit 10-in-1 Renewal System products review

Image
I received this set of Shea Moisture products in my September CurlBox . The box included the 13 ox. Superfruit sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, the 12 oz. hair mask, and the 2 oz. hair and scalp 2 part oil/serum. This particular line from Shea Moisture includes their "Super Fruit" complex, which is a blend of red raspberry, goji, acai and guava extracts that promote anti-aging. They soften and rejuvenate the scalp as well. The products also contain a rich blend of oils, ie: marula, shea butter, olive oil, jojoba oil, carrot seed oil, vitamin E, just to name a few. Great for moisture. Biotin is another ingredient mentioned, that can strengthen the hair. Using the products: It is recommended to use the oil/serum as a pre-poo treatment that you can leave in for up to an hour. Be sure and shake the bottle to mix this 2-part oil. I left it on my entire head-hair and scalp with a heated cap for 1 hour. Followed up with the gentle shampoo that has a low suds propert...

BeautyDNA and Phyto Paris-Not a good match this month

Image
In case you don't know, or haven't been following me lately, BeautyDNA is a monthly subscription service that really does a good match to your beauty needs, although this month, not so much. This month I recieved Phyto Paris "Secret de Nuit Intense Hydration Night Cream". It is a hair mask. That you apply at night. To wet hair. It is suppose to work its magic overnight. First of all, I had a lot of problems right off the bat. I don't like to go to bed with wet hair and wake up looking like a brillo pad! Secondly, what does the nighttime have to do with the product's effectiveness to work? Just what kind of nocturnal properties can a product have? The product is a botanical line that features ingredients such as: shea butter and sunflower seed oil, and quite honestly, a bunch of other stuff I can't spell or pronounce, (chemicals, likely). The consistency of the product is more like a "milk" than a mask or a cream for that matter. A rath...
