Another before and after creation

Image
Here's a look at another custom order creation. A friend of mine gave me this strand of sodalite gemstone beads, and asked me to create a bracelet in mixed metals, that would coordinate with this pair of earrings she got from me: and this necklace: We talked about incorporating elements of each piece, so that they could be worn together or apart. She liked the mix of sterling and copper; the copper washers that I used in the earrings, and she wanted some spirals. Here is the completed bracelet that I came up with. The copper O rings are textured the same way, as I did the earrings. I wrapped them in sterling silver wire with added spirals. I added the sodalite beads onto my own handmade sterling head pins and added faceted citrine dangles (like the earrings). To coordinate with the necklace, I had a couple of the sterling "Greek key" beads available and placed them strategically in the bracelet where they would be seen. I tried to incorporate some chunky lapis also, bu...

Before and After

A friend of mine asked me to make some custom jewelry for her. She had some beads just on stretchy bands and wanted something special made with them. So take a look at what I made her with these snowflake obsidian gemstone beads. Before After What a difference huh? She's given me some other strands to work with, but I won't get started on those until after my next 2 weeks of shows is over. Busy, busy me. This Saturday I will be in St. Petersburg, here .

Saturday's shop update

Image
My Saturday morning started out as it usually does, chatting with friends, running errands. I went to a local art festival that a metalsmith friend of mine was in, to check it out. It is always good to go to a show before you decide to apply for the next show that a particular group might be having. It was quite small, not too much traffic. In a nice park right along the bay, so the view was really nice. It still is a little bit hot here, for me anyway. Here's what's new in my shop: Western style earrings I love working with mixed metals. It's just a great look. You can wear mixed metals for any season. Western rings Ok, sometimes I get on a roll, with a theme, oh well! More mixed metals, more twisted wire. Copper cone earrings A familiar theme? These are fun! And turquoise too! Green glass focal pendant necklace and earrings set Now this one breaks the theme! I had fun working with this artisan made borosilicate lampwork bead. Earthy, greens and blue. I like the way my own...

Custom orders and other stuff

I feel like I'm not posting enough lately here on the blog, so let me show you what I've been working on this week. I had 2 custom orders for pendants. The first, a great lampwork bead, by Moon Stumpp. I used heavier gauge wire to wrap the square and added spirals for detail. This matches a pair of earrings that I made, to which this customer had purchased. Then,(another order)I made this simple pendant with a beautiful richly colored borosilicate glass bead made by Carey of Sassy Stoppers . I made a large double loop bail opening which will accommodate a variety of chain sizes. Hand forged sterling bead cap and peacock pearls. I oxidized it for a darker patina. And now, here's a couple new anklets just listed in my Etsy shop today. Girly, girl anklet : And, the Midnight hour anklet : All hand forged sterling silver links. Anklets are just fun! Now there's an article on top jewelry trends of 2010 that you might what to check out. Click here . Which can be found on the ...
