You will just love these

I do! Two of my newest earring designs. The first, is a simple drop earring. They are soft, and subtle. I used teal colored artisan lampwork beads, wrapped in sterling silver, hand fired head pins that I made, and cute flower petal bead caps. They have been oxidized and polished to a matte finish for a rustic look. You can get them here . Then, for a more glamorous, gypsy, or goddess, have a look at these "Dark Lady" earrings. Extra long dangles of stacked purple glass beads, amethyst gemstones in various shades, Hill Tribe silver, coiled sterling silver; with a nice bauble of artisan made black and purple lampwork beads! You can see more of these here . These are my personal favorite! That's it for today. Enjoy your Monday!

Nesting, stocking up, and building inventory

Image
I must admit that August is my least favorite month of the year, especially here in Florida. It is too hot, humid, and we are officially into the rainy; I mean hurricane season. It rains a little just about every day. But our dry grasses and trees do need the rain! So, I'm staying inside, keeping cool, and making as much new jewelry as I can for the fall show season. I tend to get a little intense about not having enough in stock for all I plan to do. I have 2 shows booked so far that I know I've gotten accepted to. I will add my show schedule to my blog soon. Plus stocking the local shops that I have jewelry in, and keeping my Etsy shop stocked. This coming weekend I will be going to a local bead show to stock up on supplies, findings, new beads, and gemstones. I want to get some labradorite gemstones. A new favorite of mine. Plus, some customers of my Etsy supply shop have requested a few items that I might be able to get. You'll find me shopping at Down the Street bead ...

Playing with fire; 4 new earring pairs

Image
Thursday: My time really flies by! What I was working on over the past weekend was "playing" with my new propane torch . Working with it, learning to forge some metals, and make some cute colored "red" copper head pins. The propane torch gives me a hotter temperature than a micro- torch that I sometimes use, but nothing like a acetylene/oxygen torch that a full metalsmith would use. I'm trying new techniques within my budget. Some of my projects over the weekend, did not work out as planned, so back to the drawing board, or soldering block, I should say! Anyway, here's a look at 4 new pairs of earrings soon to be added to my Etsy shop . This first pair, I used the copper head pins that I made with that interesting red (or pinkish) head that you can achieve with the torch. They're an ethnic style pair of wire wrapped lampwork discs, Bali copper beads, and faceted citrine. This next pair, I'm calling "Zanzibar" have gorgeous artisan lampwork...

Custom orders and other stuff

I feel like I'm not posting enough lately here on the blog, so let me show you what I've been working on this week. I had 2 custom orders for pendants. The first, a great lampwork bead, by Moon Stumpp. I used heavier gauge wire to wrap the square and added spirals for detail. This matches a pair of earrings that I made, to which this customer had purchased. Then,(another order)I made this simple pendant with a beautiful richly colored borosilicate glass bead made by Carey of Sassy Stoppers . I made a large double loop bail opening which will accommodate a variety of chain sizes. Hand forged sterling bead cap and peacock pearls. I oxidized it for a darker patina. And now, here's a couple new anklets just listed in my Etsy shop today. Girly, girl anklet : And, the Midnight hour anklet : All hand forged sterling silver links. Anklets are just fun! Now there's an article on top jewelry trends of 2010 that you might what to check out. Click here . Which can be found on the ...
