Simple Soldering by Kate Richbourg~A book review

I had the opportunity to review Simple Soldering by Kate Richbourg this past week. Although this is a beginner's guide, I do admire the author, and Beaducation, where Ms. Kate has spent much time as a teacher and director of education. So I was intrigued to see if I could pick up any tips from this book.
Well,I have to admit, that this is a great book! Kate's style and method of teaching is so user friendly. The first part of the book you will create a "sampler set" of techniques that you can keep. I really do think this is a great idea. It gives you a chance to try a technique, before actually trying it on a piece of jewelry that you want to make. It gives you a chance to practice that techique. Kate even gives you suggestions about what you can do with the sampler when you're done making it.
The rest of the book are projects, that start from easy to more difficult. There are some really cute designs here!
BONUS: It comes with a DVD. I love having a DVD along with instruction, so you can really see things up close, watch a technique performed, how to hold a tool correctly, watch solder flow, etc. A great learning tool.
This is truely a complete beginner's guide to soldering that covers much more that just the basics. You can't go wrong with this one!

thanks for sharing. I would really love to get into soldering but buying the supplies is kind of pricey. I'm slowly working my way towards that.
