Picture of the Week

Vincent van Gogh 1889, Museum of Modern Art, New York City

The Starry Night (Dutch: De sterrennacht) is a painting by Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. The painting depicts the view outside his sanitarium room window at night, although it was painted from memory during the day.
Apparently not happy when this painting was done.

I was introduced to this painting actually in a bible study class that I took: http://www.startingpoint.com
"Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, north, south, east and west; for all the land which you see I will give to you and your posterity forever" (Genesis 12:14,15)
Theology, art; I guess it's a matter of personal interpretation. What does it say to you?

Welcome to the team! Gorgeous picture

This painting holds a special place in my heart because when Danny was 6 years old he painted his rendition of this piece at school, it is brilliant. It is in a frame on the living room wall.

I always loved this photo...I found it full of soul and not disturbing at all. I did sense a sadness and maybe some fear in him through this painting....but also a deep and profound love of beauty and mystery.
