My first influenster box

Image
I got for free to sample and review: ZzzQuil. Not very exciting is it? I was hoping for some beauty or make-up products. Anyway, if you're not familiar with influenster , it is a social site where you can search products, make lists, review items, get free products, win free stuff, etc. You can check them out here . As for this product, ZzzQuil is nothing more than Benadryl . Benadryl is used for allergies and itch relief, but can also be used as a mild sleep aid. The chemical name is diphenhydramine HCL. Both ZzzQuil and Benadryl contain 25mg. This also can be purchased as a generic through lots of drug and grocery stores and will probably save you money this way too. (Basically the same thing)

Studio Tour

Image
Today's a quick studio tour so you can see where the creative process begins and flows. Here is where I start my creative process. I draw out designs, cut metal, do wire work, make ear wires, etc. As you can see, this is also where I do my business work, and computer work. All my notes, lists, schedules are pinned up to cork boards on the desk wall. A closer look at the desk top. I keep some hammers in a mug and some jewelry related books here too. The other side of the desk has lots of tools, supply drawers where I keep everything I need to create jewelry from beads to findings to bezel cups and more. Plus a sleeping cat! This next little work bench area serves as a hammering and shaping station. My vise lives here along with various metal mandrels and bending tools, plus the bottom serves as an overflow for beads, and other tools. This is my soldering station. From here I usually move to the scrubbing area to clean the metals; yes it's a bathroom sink! Then, us...

Watch me work

This is a repeat post I did a couple of years ago, that got probably the most views ever of all my posts. Worth repeating. Enjoy, and feel free to share with a friend! I was asked to show some of the process in making my cuff bracelets. So, ask and you shall receive! Here's a quick look at some of the steps. I start out cutting the sheet metal. NOTE: I now wear gloves to do this. It is very dangerous, and I have cut myself numerous times. Here I'm making a fold in the metal, in the vise. The art of "fold forming" requires repeatedly heating and cooling the metal in order to make it soft and workable. NOTE: I now have upgraded to an "Orca" torch system . I'm creating texture here. Cutting details into the metal with a jeweler's saw. I use a variety of files and sandpapers to finish the edges. And if all goes well, this is the result. I hope that you enjoyed a look into my work. Stop back soon!

What's new this week

Flower earrings with black onyx These earrings are made from hand cut sterling silver with a brushed satin finish and small round of black onyx in the center. These are also available with lapis lazuli centers. They are made to order, and can be found on my website: Devine Designs Jewelry I've also added another great pair of stud earrings to my collection here . These copper and sterling silver earrings are so warm and inviting. The curve makes them so comfortable to wear. And I love the look of mixing metals. You can check out the entire collection of stud earrings, here . And while you're there, why not join my email list to be the first to know when new products arrive? You'll get some special treatment too!

There will be Stars~by Billy Coffey

Alcoholic and town loser, Bobby Barnes spends his last day driving drunk, up a mountain with his two young sons, never to return; or does he? In this “Ground hog Day”/ sci-fi novel, Bobby Barnes replays his last day over and over while meeting a strange cast of characters along the way. Through their interactions, the reader learns the fate that has brought all these characters to meet in the same place. These are not happy endings. Bobby has the chance to change history, although he is hard headed, a loner, and a misfit and just wants to be left alone. Is this heaven or hell, or somewhere in between? Who knows? To say I disliked this novel would be putting it lightly. I found it to be a horrible, dark story with unlikeable characters with their own dark histories. The story goes from dark to darker, where I almost put the book down and could not finish it. Bobby Barnes is a country bumpkin alcoholic, possible child abuser, liar, thief, and who know what else. Although h...

Etsy Forums~Just for beginners?

Image
The Etsy forums is a place where sellers and buyers can go to browse topics, search out groups, teams, featured merchandise, or ask questions. Some groups are closed to members only, while others are open so all can read through them. I've been a member of Etsy since 2008, and belong to 29 teams, yes, 29. And lately, I have to ask myself, why do I bother posting in the forums? Are they just for beginners to get information about how to run an Etsy shop? Are they just there so shop owners can connect with other shop owners and chat? (Must be nice to have all that extra time.) I belong to some groups that appear to be "dead" as in no one but myself and maybe another member ever post in them. What happened to the moderator? What has happened to the group? Why are they still existing? This seems to be misleading to other members if this group is indeed, "dead", shouldn't something be done, like closing the group so others don't waste their time po...

FishFlix~A new review

Image
I was contacted by the company “FishFlix” and asked if I would review one of their DVD’s in all honesty. FishFlix.com is a website where you can purchase Christian movies, TV shows, documentaries, and more. They carry family themed movies, as well as, children’s selections, biblical, and love and romance selections. I was sent a documentary to review, entitled, “Apostle Paul and the earliest churches”. This somewhat short, 48 minute video depicts Apostle Paul’s life and preachings, travels, and ultimate death. The film is narrated over actors and scenery of the areas traveled, (modern Turkey) and not only discusses Paul’s teachings of the Christian Church, but also tells and shows many archaeological sites, ruins, and museum finds. It is a well filmed DVD, although I found the narration a little bit dry. Of course, this was not a full feature film, but more of a DVD one would expect to see at a Sunday school class- suited for adults or children. You can read more about th...
