Among other things that I'm grateful for, is that I've had this entire week off and I've been "working" like a dog, creating new jewelry in preparation for my next shows. New bangles in the lacquer process It's just about a week away from my net show in St. Petersburg at the Studio@620. I've done this show the last 4 or 5 years now. It's a nice indoor studio show. This year there seems to be a great variety of artists working in different media. You can go to the Craft Heroes blog and scroll through the various featured artists. I've invited friends on FB and those of you who have signed up for my emails will be getting those shortly. You can sign up in the side bar link, if you'd like. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Andi Unexpected~ A teen novel by Amanda Flower

Andi Boggs and her sister, Bethany, go to live with their young, eccentric aunt after the loss of their parents. What follows turns out to be a mystery about another lost family member with the same name as Andi (Andora), from the past, whom no one seems to know about, or wants to talk about. With the help of neighbor, and her new friend, Colin, the two youths are off on a “seek and find” adventure after finding a trunk from the Depression-era hidden in the wall of the attic in Andi’s new home. The story lightly touches on the sisters’ differences, and how they are dealing with the changes going on in their lives, following the loss of their parents. What I enjoyed most about the story was when Andi and Colin learn about the Great Depression, and how it affected families. A little lesson for the youths of today, perhaps? This is ju...

Marie Roberts Monville, tells the story of her life before and after the Amish schoolhouse shooting. She was the wife of the shooter who took the lives of 5 young girls and then his own on one tragic day, October 2, 2006. Marie is left to deal with the aftermath of this destruction of lives and families- widowed with 3 of her own children. How she survives, is a true gift from God through faith, redemption and love. I don’t know exactly what I expected to find by reading this book. Maybe looking for answers; asking why?, but this is not about what her husband did, it is HER story. And I, at first couldn’t believe all the miracles and blessings Marie received from God. I was amazed at how forgiving and caring the Amish families (who lost loved ones) were towards Marie and her children. I was astounded by the amount of support from strangers Marie and her childr...
