The Traveler's Gift~ a book review

Image
The Traveler’s Gift, by Andy Andrews Seven decisions that determine personal success David Ponder, a man down on his luck and in despair, experiences a personal miracle that not only changes his life, but has the potential to change others and the world itself. The author weaves a tale of near death experiences, time travel, and adventure. Using historical characters and facts, he introduces the main character and the reader to seven decisions that one can take to determine personal success in life. This is a prelude to “The Final Summit”; where Andrews continues David Ponder’s journey. I so enjoyed reading “The Final Summit”, that I had to read more from this uplifting, inspirational writer. I must say that I enjoyed “The Traveler’s Gift” even more than “The Final Summit”. I found it exciting, and intriguing to learn more about the main character, his personal history and past time travels. This story also has a great climatic ending. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. As such a great ...

Thoughts on blogging

Image
I've been blogging for some time now, (well over a year, if not 2), and have been following many blogs for that amount of time also. I've noticed that after about a year some bloggers either stop blogging, or the amount of posts decrease from daily, to weekly, to monthly, then no posts for months. Why does this occur? Do we get bored with blogging? Do we run out of things to say or write about? I guess if one has a background in writing, a blogger could potentially continue to find topics about which to write about. I find it curious, to me at least, why some folks stop blogging, especially if their followers are increasing, and their readers are increasing. I've noticed this in a couple of blogs that I followed. What I see that seems to work for some, is a repeated weekly post on some topic or the other. For example, some have specific days that they: run a contest, do a tutorial, have group topics to post on (blog carnivals), interview other artisans, post recipes, or boo...

I hate the summer heat

Image
What can I say? When you live in Florida, you can expect warm or hot weather 365 days a year. And most of it can be quite pleasant. But summertime is NOT my favorite season of the year. Actually I hate this time of the year. It is soooo hot outside. It's already in the 90's here in June, and today for example, the heat index says that it will feel like 104 degrees. It's not just the heat mind you. I've been in other areas of the country when it's been hot. I was in San Antonio, Texas , a couple of years ago in June, and it was hot. The temperature was probably higher than here, but it was very windy, so at least there was some air going around! Here, in Florida, it's the humidity that's bad. You can go outside in the morning and it feels like there is no oxygen to breathe. It's hot everywhere I go. To work: my boss keeps the temperature up high-to about 85 degrees, so in the morning we sweat, trying to get things done and in order to start the day. It ta...

Tamdoll's Silver Mountain Originals Tammy describes her creations as "an eclectic mix of fabric jewelry, modern art to wear and unique accessories". I must agree. Tammy has been creating for about 30 years. Doing sewing, knitting, all kinds of crafting. A visit to her shop on Etsy will find items such as these: Tammy also has a wonderful blog, where you can discover more about her and what she creates. There is also a great tutorial page. This one's my favorite: http://tamdoll.blogspot.com/2009/02/game-board-jewelry-display.html You can read more on her blog here . Stop by, say hello, and enjoy!

A favorite summer recipe

Image
This is a simple summer salad using tomatoes and cheeses! Start by slicing fresh tomatoes (home grown are even better) and arrange on individual plates. I salt and pepper the tomatoes. Then add a combination of cheese on top. I tend to use: feta, mozzarella, and fresh slithers of Parmesan. Season with oregano and basil. (Using fresh is also better-just use smaller amounts) Then top it off with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Quite tasty!
