Steal like an Artist~ a book review

I saw a post about this book awhile back on somebody's blog-I don't remember where, and I was intrigued by the title. So, it went on my reading list.

A little book by author, Austin Kleon, which states; :10 things nobody told you about being creative".
Nothing is original; everything comes from something, the book lightly states, and includes thought provoking ideas and statements for artists, creators, and writers, amoung others. The author shares some topics such as: using your hands, do good work and share it, and be nice- to name a few.

A few of my favorite quotes that I found in the book: "plagiarism is trying to pass someone else's work off as your own, copying is about reverse-engineering...." (see page 33)
Kleon talks later about sharing your process, he states: "not to worry about giving your secrets away, you can share your dots without connecting them". (page 85)
And, "the worst thing a day job does is take time away from you, but does give you a daily routine so you can schedule time for your creative work" (page 124). I find this one to be true!

It's a quick, enjoyable read that I do recommend!

I found that my day job totally stifled my creativitiy. I am much more creative now that I am free from that daily drudge!!!
Sounds like a good read for any artist :)
