Trying to find balance and “me time”

Image
It’s come to this. I’m way too tired trying to find balance in my life. After doing my last show this month has left me overworked, unsatisfied and full of questions about the future. Working a full time job, trying to work and run a business on the side which consists of doing live art shows and keeping an on-line store alive, plus keeping a relationship fresh and running a household---there just aren’t enough hours in the days, or weeks, or energy to master. I just don’t know how some folks do it. Keeping an on-line presence takes A LOT of time. From setting up a website, keeping it fresh with new products, promotion, blogging, social media attention; it’s a full time job in itself. What I’ve decided about art shows; maybe I’ve done my last. It takes so much time, money and effort, (physical and mental) to do them. Show fees are usually high, especially if you want to get into a good show. You must compete with other vendors/artists, not only in what you make, but, I’ve dis...

In limbo

I'm feeling like nothing's moving and I'm going nowhere. That's how I've felt about the month of April. Like I'm playing a waiting game. I'm thinking and trying to decide if I should take a full time job. I'm waiting to hear if I have been accepted into 3- no- 4 art shows. There is no movement in my on-line shops,ie: very slow sales. So, I wait, and persevere. I continue to be open to new job opportunities. I don't give up and I keep on trying. I do hate the waiting time to find out about the shows though. Since I do tend to work well with deadlines and under some pressure, I at least like to know, so I can continue to plan. But I am making jewelry and working on my jewelry business on most days. So I am making new things, learning new techniques and building inventory for upcoming shows. I'm thinking that teaching some classes or workshops may also be in my future. I have been asked serveral times if I teach. No photos for today, just...

The Traveler's Gift~ a book review

Image
The Traveler’s Gift, by Andy Andrews Seven decisions that determine personal success David Ponder, a man down on his luck and in despair, experiences a personal miracle that not only changes his life, but has the potential to change others and the world itself. The author weaves a tale of near death experiences, time travel, and adventure. Using historical characters and facts, he introduces the main character and the reader to seven decisions that one can take to determine personal success in life. This is a prelude to “The Final Summit”; where Andrews continues David Ponder’s journey. I so enjoyed reading “The Final Summit”, that I had to read more from this uplifting, inspirational writer. I must say that I enjoyed “The Traveler’s Gift” even more than “The Final Summit”. I found it exciting, and intriguing to learn more about the main character, his personal history and past time travels. This story also has a great climatic ending. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. As such a great ...

Jolt!~ a book review

Jolt! Get the jump on a world that’s constantly changing Written by Phil Cooke Television producer and social media guru, Phil Cooke shares in this book his methods to keep up with an ever changing world, while maintaining your integrity, and how to take control of your life, personally and in business. In the introduction, the author gives us statistics and information on how the internet, social media and technology have changed our world and lives. The chapters are written on topics such as: change, setting priorities, personal growth, creativity, and confidence; just to name a few. Basically, 25 “points” to help those needing a change in direction in life. The book does present Biblical principles to good living, somewhat discreetly written in “laymen” terms; in other words, not stressing religion. Personally, I found nothing new here. I have read these topics written by many authors in many books. The most I learned, of new information, was just in the introduction section. ...
