Here's a look at another custom order creation. A friend of mine gave me this strand of sodalite gemstone beads, and asked me to create a bracelet in mixed metals, that would coordinate with this pair of earrings she got from me: and this necklace: We talked about incorporating elements of each piece, so that they could be worn together or apart. She liked the mix of sterling and copper; the copper washers that I used in the earrings, and she wanted some spirals. Here is the completed bracelet that I came up with. The copper O rings are textured the same way, as I did the earrings. I wrapped them in sterling silver wire with added spirals. I added the sodalite beads onto my own handmade sterling head pins and added faceted citrine dangles (like the earrings). To coordinate with the necklace, I had a couple of the sterling "Greek key" beads available and placed them strategically in the bracelet where they would be seen. I've had a great last 3 days; a good weekend. I finally have some new jewelry made and photos to share. It felt good to have thing flow, to feel natural to me; working and shaping with wire. But before I do show off my new goodies, I want to mention that in today's mail I got this month's issue of "Step by Step" wire magazine and paged through to find my earrings featured in the gallery page. This made me happy! A step forward! A great magazine for those of you would want to pursue wire jewelry making. So on to the eye candy. I made a number of hoop type designs, well squares to be honest. A pair with a dangle of wire wrapped chunk amethyst, and (my personal favorite), "barbed wire" squares of sterling silver with copper twisted wire wrapped around. I think I'll be making a pair for myself! And some more sterling silver spiral earrings in bright silver and oxidized with some metal beads. These were a request from a local gallery here. Good Monday morning! Well, it's really late afternoon here, as I finally get around to making a post. I try to have photos to show at every blog post, so, sometimes I end up waiting to show off my new goodies that I've made. I've had a supply crisis recently; running out of just about every gauge of wire in silver and copper that I use! But I found a sale last week, (yeah!) and my new wire has just arrived today. And I bought a wire rounder. I've been wanting one for awhile, and have been using my files or dremel to smooth wire. But what's cool about this tool, is that it has a cup burr on the end, so I think it will help to make really nice ends on ear wires. BTW: have I mentioned that I got new business cards and jewelry tags with my new Etsy shop banner ? I had JacksonInk make these for me. Sunday....I start my day taking a walk. What a beautiful day it is today. The trees are loosing their leaves and if it wasn't for the heat of the day, I'd swear it looks like a winter day in northern U.S. I'm fighting with the wind as I walk, oh, yeah there is a tornado watch today! Hmmmm..... I picked up a few leaves to show you; And, "Yes Virginia, the leaves do change colors in Florida". So I've got a few custom orders I'm working on. I'm grateful for that! I'm working on a Viking knit weave necklace for a guy that Benn works with. And my fingers will hate me later, the necklace he wants it to be 27 inches long! A lot of weaving wire! And I just made a pendant to match my Triple Goddess earrings, that sold last week at my open house. Normally, I would not make the same thing, but for this friend, she wanted a matching pendant, larger than the earrings, so I agreed. It turned out really nice.
