Andi Unstoppable~ A book review

Image
Andi Unstoppable~ by Amanda Flower Third book in a series, this one once again has Andi Boggs and her best friend Colin Carter set out to solve a mystery. Andi and Colin are partnered with classmate Ava, in a science project to identify birds, especially to find a rarely seen Kirtland’s Warbler. Their search for the birds takes them on an overnight camping trip where they learn about a legend of a ghost that visits the graves of loved ones, who just so happened to be buried in the woods where Andi, Colin, and Ava are camping. Andi and Colin have more than one mystery to solve. Is there a real ghost? Is someone digging up the graves? Where is Ava disappearing to? What is going on with Andi’s sister Bethany and Ava’s brother? This is a nice light hearted young adult mystery, much like the Nancy Drew mystery series. I would recommend starting with the first book, “Andi Unexpected”, as it gives a good background story of how Andi and her sister come to live with their aunt, plus...

Briogeo Be Gentle Be Kind Avocado & Quinoa Co-Wash

Image
I received a bottle of this Briogeo Co-wash in my last month's BeautyDNA box- you can read about that here . Finally getting around to trying this product, I must say that I'm impressed. This 4-in-one, shampoo and conditioner, detangles, and nourishes the hair. This avocado and quinoa blend is formulated for thick, coarse, dry, and/or color treated hair- that's me! It's an ultra-rich hydrating cream product with good amount of slip. It also contains shea butter, aloe, vitamin E and other natural ingredients, plus is cruelty-free, and vegan friendly, and made without sulfates, parabens, phthalates, silicone, synthetic fragrances and dyes. The product has a ever so light scent of mint to me, although I don't believe there is any mint in it. A very small amount of citrus, cedar, and sandalwood oils are mentioned in the ingredient list. This is a nice size of 8.5 oz. and retails for $20.00. Briogeo's products can be purchased on their website or on Sephora...

Death on Hold~ A book review

Image
Death on hold~ A prisoner’s desperate prayer and the unlikely family who became God’s answer As told by Burton and Anita Folsom and Mitchell Rutledge Death row inmate Mitchell Rutledge finds God, himself, and a family of friends on the outside who help him succeed as a useful human being, despite his circumstances. At age 16, illiterate, homeless, and finding himself alone and on the streets after his young mother dies, Mitch takes to the life of selling drugs and crime to survive. At age 18, he commits a murder and is convicted and sentenced to death, not once but twice. In his own words he tells his story, shares with us about life inside prison walls, (which is not what you see portrayed on television), how he found redemption and wanted to change his life and what he did to accomplish that. After a negative Time magazine article about him, Mitch meets, through writing letters, Burt and Anita Folsom, who become years long friends who inspire Mitch over the years, but find t...

Drunk Elephant "JuJu bar"

Image
This is a new skincare line that I received in my BeautyDNA box this month. I've used this facial soap about 3 weeks now and I'm ready to review. Drunk Elephant skincare believes in natural ingredients that work, while leaving out those chemical ingredients that don't. The JuJu Bar is a daily deep cleansing, exfoliating and healing bar that gently removes dead skin cells and helps to improve the skins overall appearance and radiance. It's main acting ingredients are: thermal mud, 20% glycerin, and bamboo powder. Directions say to lather up the bar and apply it directly to the face. This will give you quite an abrasive exfoliation effect. If this is too much, just lather up in your hands and apply to the face. It feels like a gritty sand and has a rich lather. It is also fragrance free. It does leave the skin feeling clean, but not dry at all. I do like this bar, the only improvement, could be if they added an essential oil for true fragrance. This is a...
