Juelp Maven December's box

Image
This month's box included two shades of polish: Paula- a medium blue with slightly purple tones and gold micro-glitter. I call it my "Wonder Woman" nail polish. And Soleil; a frosty bronze taupe color. Plus a fabulous large "orbital eyeshadow" in the color "Equinox"; a smokey greyish purple that intensifies when applied wet. See photo left to right. Wedding Wipeout~ A Rabbi Kappelmacher mystery

Image
Amateur sleuth, Rabbi Kappelmacher takes it upon himself, with Rabbi Steinmetz in tow, to investigate the murder of Florence Eisenstein, who is found dead the day after her wedding. This is the story of two elderly sisters living off their wealthy father’s estate. Their father’s will has stipulations as to if either sister marries one will lose their share of the estate. The scene is set when the entire wedding party stays over night and awakens to this mysterious death. I surprisingly enjoyed this story. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, as I had won a copy of this book on Goodreads -First Reads. The story is filled with humor and Yiddish expressions. With an interesting cast of characters, the story keeps you guessing, or thinking about “who done it”. Well written by the author. Definitely fits a “cozy mystery” genre and worth the read.

Big haul with Julep Maven Mystery box!

Image
I can't help but to sing the praises of this amazing "Diamond Mystery box" that I ordered from Julep . One of the perks of becoming a "Julep Maven" is that you get chances to shop special sales, special shops (on their site) and special mystery boxes. I think this Diamond box was advertised for $20.99 or $24.99- I don't remember, anyway, promised about $120.00 worth of Julep products. I was intrigued, to say the least. SO EXCITED! I received all these polishes ranging from blues, purples, red, creams and sparkles, and two glitters; a silver and gold. AND THEN, also in the box was a eye shadow primer (similar to Smashbox eye primer), a pinkish/neutral lip gloss (slightly sticky, but a nice thickness and vanilla scent), a black gel eye liner (glides on so smoothly), and two eye brushes. I just can't say enough about the brushes. The handles seem to be weighted at one end making them easy to use and comfortable in the hand. The brush hairs are s...

November's Julep box

Image
Since I have the week off, I have a chance to add another blog post. November's Julep box included: "Gayle" nail polish- a purple cream, Oh, did I mention that all Julep's polishes are named after women? And did I mention that they have pull off tops so that you can swatch the color, and also so that you can attach their "plie' wand" for nail designing. A great concept. The other color I got this month is called, "Sawyer". It's a bio-chrome brown"ish" color with a green flash of iridescence. Hard to describe. I'm only wearing one coat in this photo. Next, I got the "Go Big" volumizing mascara. I like the formula of this mascara, but don't get the wand. It's small, making it perfect for the bottom lashes, but doesn't cover the whole upper lash line, and I do prefer a curved wand. Still I do like this mascara. I have a great "mystery box" to post about coming soon, so stop back for...
