Change is good

I mentioned a few posts ago,that some changes were coming soon. First of all, I FINALLY got a new (day) job! So exciting. I have really needed a change for over a year now, and it has finally come. ~Patience is a virtue~ I am grateful for this chance to step out and try something new, while I feel that learning some humility is in the works as well. I'll be working 5 days a week (haven't done that in over 7 years), but still part-time hours. View my newest bangle here . This does mean that certain things will have to change in my jewelry business, and my social networking time will have to be cut down. I've decided to take my jewelry out of one of the galleries that I'm in. This past year has not been profitable in that location for me, and quite honestly, it's costing me money having the items there, when I could be taking them to shows and selling them myself. Then, of course, this is a consignment gallery- yet another reason for me to make the change...

Homeless at Harvard~ a book review

Homeless at Harvard by John Christopher Frame John Frame, a student at Harvard University spends 10 weeks living on the streets of Harvard Square in order to get a perspective of homelessness and people who live their lives on the streets. He makes friendships with many, whom show him “the ropes” of homelessness and the homeless community. Among those he meets and shares their stories are: Chubby John, who offers John a place to sleep, Dane, George, and Neal- who battles alcoholism and poor health, yet a highly spiritual man. Although John feels like he did nothing to really help the homeless situation during his time on the streets, he does come away with one important lesson that he’s learned; that the homeless are just people like you and me, and only want to be loved and accepted. I enjoyed reading this book. I learned things about homeless life that I did not know. The closest I’ve ever come to seeing or helping the homeless, was encountering a single person, alone, panh...

A light weekend plus new items

I decided to relax quite a bit this weekend. The only "jewelry business" work I did was to list more new items in my shop. Cocktail rings~ Just for fun

I wanted to find a way to use some of my "orphaned" or left over lampwork beads. I found this technique from Janice Berkebile. Coming soon to my Etsy shop !
