Week 4 weigh in

weight loss: .4 lb. Steady and going. I didn't think I would loose anything this week, since I splurged and had some extra nighttime snacks this week. What struggles I'm having is at work. It seems like more people are bringing in chocolates, cookies, and cakes lately. Or maybe it's just more noticeable to me now. And it seems to be "birthday" season right now too. Where I work, they like to celebrate with lunch and a cake or some kind of sweets. I know to plan ahead, so I took some homemade vegetable soup with me, and decided I would just have a small amount of the lunch and no dessert. It is SO hard for me to pass on the dessert! I have such a sweet tooth. And I have faithfully not had any sugar for the last 4 weeks. And I can't get away from it at work. It stays in the environment. On the table, in the middle of all our work space. People come by and nibble throughout the day. And my boss knows I'm doing WW., and she says, just have half a ...

A lazy Sunday

Went to the farmer's market this morning to get some fresh fruits and vegetables. It seemed like a little better choice and quality over the supermarket. I guess a lot of people are getting ready for Superbowl parties today. We were invited to one, but are not going. This particular party gets very crowded, and I don't want to be tempted to eat things that I shouldn't. So we will stay home and have a "planned dinner". It's just 4 weeks until my next show! I was hoping to work on some new pieces today, but that's not going to happen. I'm feeling quite lazy right now. But, tomorrow I will definately work all day on new jewelry! Here's some new pieces I did finish this week, and are ready for the show! Or anyone who may want to purchase now. Enjoy the eye candy! Weight loss this week: down 2.2 pounds Well, the program is working, although I am constantly hungry and sometimes shaky. What I think I'm doing wrong is not using my points to the best of my advantage. I think I'm trying to save up my points for dinner. Which I have discovered that I have alot of points left at the end of the day, but I'm hungry all day long. I need those calories to fuel me throughout the day. So I'll work on changing this, this week. I'm trying to buy produce at farmer's markets and not the grocery store. I think I'll save money, and hopefully get fresher, better tasting produce this way. There is a great recipe for "balsamic strawberries" found in this book: I know, sounds weird, but really tastes good. I'm going to use up my strawberries and make it today.

Before and after

A custom order for a friend. She brought me a plain strand of green aventurine stones, and a long bead; of unknown origin. I made a glamorous chunky bracelet in sterling silver. I wire wrapped some of the beads and wrapped some with coils of silver. Solid Bali silver beads add a contrast of oxidized color between the stone beads. To make this more bright and sparkly, I made twisted wire rings, to move freely between each bead link. They are all soldered (fused) so they will not come off. We discovered the pendant bead to be made of wood, with a drilled center ring. So to match the bracelet, I made more twisted wire, and wrapped the bead like a cone shape, and ended it in a spiral. It has a thick, gauge jump ring at the top so a chain may be added to it. See what you can do with a plain strand of beads? My customer is quite happy!

Week 2- weigh in

Weight loss: 3 lbs. Finally; to see the scale actually say something lower this week;just great. I am sooo struggling with hunger all the time. I hope this gets easier as my stomach shrinks. It's been another busy week here for me. Count down until my next show: 5 weeks. Did I make anything this week? No. Well, not entirely. I finished a custom order which I will have to post photos later, when I get the chance to take some. I spent Wednesday helping a friend out. I had promised to take her around some of the cute shops, so she could get over her fear of talking to shop owners. (she makes jewelry too) I had to work an extra day this week at my day job, so I really haven't had much time to create. One day this week, I pulled my jewelry from one of the shops that just wasn't selling much. You know, I have to think of the financial and business end of things. Well anyway, this gives me a few more things for the show. My friend says, I'm like "a bull in a china s...

It's chaos time again!

I cannot believe that I have a show in just 6 weeks! It's a weekend show, meaning 2 days, so I need alot of inventory. Now what has made my inventory low is that last week I had an appointment with the Florida Craftsmen to bring in more jewelry. So I took a whole tray of cuff bracelets for them to choose from and a few other pieces, and guess what? They took all but 4 of my cuffs! Not that I'm complaining, but this leaves me short again with less merchandise than I think I will need for a 2 day show. Some how I work well under pressure. My next show will be March 3-4 in Palm Harbor . I've never done this show before, but a metalsmith friend of mine said she does pretty good at this one. Now for some new jewelry! double layer stamped bracelet and earrings Now these are available for purchase at the Florida Craftsmen gallery. copper squiggles and greed aventurine long necklace with lampwork and lapis This one is 30 inches long in sterling silver, adjustable, with pretty...

Week 1 weigh in

I've been trying to eat the "Weight Watchers" way all week, and have been hungry too. I'm continuing to exercise vigorously 3 times a week. So, it came my first week's weigh in; and guess what? I gained 1.6 lbs! Well, this really helps my attitude. Now I could blame this on the pants I was wearing that day; they were heavier, but I had alot of business running around to do that day, and had to wear nice pants. (I'm not going to wear the same out fit each week that I go and weigh in) But, I must say, it is difficult to follow the system unless you buy the extra "starter kit" or something, because I really didn't have much access to calculate my points for this week. I did buy the new calculator, (which was on sale for 1/2 price) and this should help some. What gets me is this; I've eaten the same breakfast (whole grain English muffin, piece of Canadian bacon, and Egg Beaters) that used to be 4 points, now is 7 points. How is this an im...
