Etsy Blogger's blog carnival~October

Image
I'm torn between the 2 topics of choice to write about this month. The selections are offered to us by Deb, of Storybeader , and they are: 1) any new websites that you'd like to introduce us to? Everyone likes to find new places to visit! 2) tell us about your experiences on Etsy. What other teams, labs, and forums do you like to visit when you come by your shop. Recommendations or tips? So, there are many websites I like, although may not be new ones; and the second choice, well, I have some mixed feelings right now about Etsy in general, and maybe should not go there as a topic. So let me introduce you to some sites you may enjoy or find helpful. These are some of my favorites. Another one of those days

Image
It is about 7:30 pm. right now and I feel like I've nothing accomplished for the day. My intentions were good and orderly this morning; did chores, exercised, grocery shopped. Then too many "other" things got in the way. Too many phone calls to make, 2 days of answering emails, problems with chains. Oh, that's another story all in itself. But briefly, I've been trying to find chain to go with some new pendant necklaces I've made. Nothing fit my designs or budget. I will be returning some more stuff to Rio Grande ! I just finished pricing and labeling my new works for a small show I am doing on Sunday. "Chester" A little tree frog sitting on the wall when I went out to get the mail. Here's a nice treasury that I found myself in this week. Enjoy!

Photography woes

Image
I started my day today, thinking I could get some early morning pictures taken in natural light (of my jewelry). Well, I had nothing but problems. I went out on our crowded patio and tried to set up a table where I usually take photos; and brought a chair over, well, almost. I was so crammed in with all the "stuff" out there, I could not even get situated to take photos. But I tried. Then the sun went in. I shifted stuff around. Then the camera was acting up. Moving slow, movement. The battery had a charge, I had the correct settings for no movement. O.k. forget it out here. I had to set up my light box inside and work on them some more. Sometimes when some thing's not working, you just need to walk away. Put it aside for another day. And that's what I did. Just in case you've missed it, here's what new in my Etsy shop . Stop by and have a look. Glass pendant necklace. hand stamped. sterling silver Sterling silver and pearl earrings-dangle Glamour pendant neck...

Your 100 Day Prayer by John I. Snyder~ a book review

Image
This book offers 100 days of prayer beginning with a Bible passage, followed by the author’s explanation and interpretation of the passage. After each day’s reading, there is blank space for one’s thoughts, meditations, or for journaling. It is an easy read, not too deep, but thought provoking and encouraging. It is written in a cohesive way, for instance, beginning with an opening prayer, and a quick guide on how to use the book. Each day’s topic has a different theme, yet are all connected in some way. For example, day one, entitled, “in the beginning” quotes from the book of Genesis and the passages continue on this way. I like how each day has a different topic, making this a good book to go to at any time if you are struggling with an issue, you can easily go to the table of contents and pick with topic fits for you and re-read it. I say re-read, as I would recommend reading it through entirely the first time. Some topics include: Living our purpose, first things first, str...
