Sunday: Not as exciting as I thought

Image
That kinda sums it up. I thought I would have some exciting news, well I do have one thing... but I'll hold off for a bit.... I thought I would have another new bracelet complete to show you, but did not happen. What did I do today? Loads and loads of laundry! And spent some time "studying" my new camera's instruction manual. 50 pages, and now I have to download the CD disc to learn more! Did I mention I'm electronically challenged? Now let me get to the good stuff: IT'S TIME FOR A GIVEAWAY! Since I have been blessed with good things lately, I'd like to offer this bracelet, as a giveaway. It's one of my pure copper cuff style bracelets from the "Ancient World's" series. This one just does not live up to my standards for sale, although it is very nice and wearable. It will fit a size 7 inch wrist. O.K. So what do you have to do to be entered? ~follow my blog~ 1 entry ~become a Facebook fan, click on top box to go there~ 1 entry ~make a pur...

Just my typical Saturday

Image
Get up, take care of the cats, exercise (yes, and not my usual!), go meet my women friends, go to the library, go shopping; yes, I actually got to treat myself to some new clothes and a purse, great sales today! Then grocery shop, (my least favorite thing to do) ,came home made these earrings, which are available here . They are a slightly smaller size than my usual, measuring 1 inch around. Then I created this fabulous southwestern style slider bracelet: which will probably be in my Etsy shop tomorrow. And no, I still haven't used my new camera yet. That will be coming soon. My day started out rainy and cold, a lot colder than we are used to here in Florida! Stop back tomorrow for some exciting stuff!

A day to rest

What busy weekend I had. First of all I did have to work this weekend. We had a diabetic cat who needed treatments. In addition to that and my usual Saturday morning gathering, I did a last minute open house with my friend Carol. You may have heard me talk about her before. She does seed bead weaving, a totally different style of jewelry than I make. BTW: I convinced her to open and Etsy shop and you can check it out here . She needs to add more though, and the photos do nothing to really show or appreciate the work that she does! The open house went well and was well attended. Oh, we had it at Carol's house which is about 30 minutes north of me. We kept it simple; just coffee, punch, chips and dips, cheese and crackers, and I made brownies with chocolate chunks. I sold a couple of big necklaces (so glad) so now I can pay some bill that needs paying! Then running back to work to care for the cat. A lot of driving! So today, being off from work, I just cleaned up and put away my jew...

"Where is God?" a book review

Image
This question is a popular one in our society today. In his book, Dr. John Townsend attempts to answer this question for those who may be seeking. The highlights for me were these: God has given us free will. He loves us and wants to be a part of our lives. He wants us to connect with others. We must have faith at all times; relying on and trusting God. Now these are not new ideas for me, and maybe for you also. I found Dr. Townsend’s writing style to be geared towards the psychological evaluation of life’s circumstance to be distracting. I found it too detailed a reading to hold my interest. Too many chapters were focused on what not to look for in God. Now if I picked up this book with it’s title, “Where is God”, I think I would be sincerely searching for an answer in these tough times. I would not want to page through a theological textbook, which is how I felt about this book. It did not get interesting to me until about page 100, with the sub-topic of “How it works”. Dr...

Monday's finds

Here's my new jewelry project in progress. It's a fish tail braid. Just a practice piece today. Here's what I got in a fortune cookie the other night. Here's what's for dinner tonight. It's a Greek meatloaf stuffed with feta cheese, olives, and sun dried tomatoes. (Left over from last night). And here's my suggested movie to watch. The Shift . If you're on a spiritual journey, or just searching, I highly recommend this! Rent it, buy it, borrow it! It is well worth it! Tomorrow it's back to my "real" job. Up at 5:30 am. What fun.

Saturday Morning

Image
I spend my Saturday mornings in the company of a group of women. Recently, I have had mixed emotions about continuing on with this group. But I must share this. This morning a friend from the group told me how she and another really respected me for how I handled a certain situation. You don't know how good it made me feel. Hope has risen! I feel a bit better about the whole situation now. You know, sometimes things appear worse than they are in actuality. Our minds tend to blow things out of proportion. I know mine does. One of my mantras that I try to remember is, "It's always 100 times worse in your head than it will actually be". I'm sure I'm not alone with these types of thoughts. I have the hamster in my head running and running on the wheel. Sometimes he can't get off. FEAR: False Evidence Appearing Real The mind is a very powerful tool. And it can play tricks on you. So I try to remember to stay in faith and not fear. When my mind starts racing off...
