Who's that girl?

Happy 45th birthday to me. As I sit and ponder life and it's meaning, I feel the pain in my aching back, my plantar fasciitis and my weight gain from last year's 10 months of unemployment. I ask myself, "What's it all about?"
Feeling the urge for something new, a change in my routine, some excitement; and yet wanting to have more time to recline, relax, and read a good book. Crazy? You might say. I conclude this to be my 45th year on this earth as a mid-life crisis.
And it's been a long time coming. The boredom at my job, questioning by career choices, looking to do something new, inspired, exciting. But also a slight longing for my youth; wanting to be outrageous, wild, unique, different, on the edge. The edge of what? I'm already on the edge of sanity. Longing, hoping for that inner peace that one achieves on a spiritual inner journey of the heart and soul. Which, by the way, I've been searching for many years.
So, I went to my previous hairdresser, (the only one I trust with my hair) and asked her to cut off all my curls and make it short. And let's throw in some highlights too. Love the cut, but was hoping for a little bit more of an extreme with the highlights. My stylist tends to go for the understated, natural look, while I was hoping for something a bit more attention getting; maybe even something I could play with later, like adding some weird color, like purple, or bright red when the moment strikes. Maybe I should just settle for covering my gray roots.

New ink always gives me a boost of bravery, self-,,,,assuredness, I guess, with a tinge of shocking value to it. This is who I am. If you don't know what I'm talking about here, you will just have to pop in another day, when I unveil the new ink. For now, how about a nostalgic walk back to the 80's. Some of you may relate, some will be lost, whatever your take, be amused........
